Free Knit Hat Pattern

I am so excited to announce my first hat pattern that I have ever created; from start to finish, this pattern is mine!!

But now that the pattern is finished I need a knit savvy person to make it and give me some feedback. So get knitting all you knitters!








Materials needed: 3 oz. sport weight yarn, size 8 needles, size 8 double pointed needles, yarn needle, 2-5 buttons (as desired), needle & thread.


Sizing: Child size 1-5 years (Adult Small, Adult Medium)
To Begin: Cast on 76 (84, 92) stitches on size 8 needles.
Row 1: (knit 2, purl 2), continue in stitch pattern for 21 (25, 29) rows
Next row: bind off the first 4 stitches and begin row with double-pointed size 8 needles in knit stitch. Continue in knit stitch until hat measures 5 1/2 (6, 6 1/2) inches from cast on row. 
Begin decreasing: knit 6, knit 2 together repeat through out round
Knit a full round (and every other round until knit 2 together)
Knit 5, knit 2 together through out round.
Knit 4, knit 2 together through out round.
Knit 3, knit 2 together through out round.
Knit 2, knit 2 together through out round.
Knit 1, knit 2 together through out round.
Knit 2 together through out round.
Using yarn needles, join stitches together and weave in tail on inside of hat. 
Join flap together on bottom of hat, add buttons for a pop of color.
